Required Listening Part 2

The first song i choose for the Required Listening 2 is "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones because this song is a real classic and i sometimes sing it in my head when i'm pissed or i can't get satisfaction with the service that i'm provided with at like a restaurant or a hotel. I think the tempo of the song is really exhilarating and pumps up the people who are listening to the song and the tambourine is a nice touch to the song, as i'm sure it wasn't in a lot of other rock and roll songs.

The Second Song i choose is "Where Have All The flowers gone"by Peter Paul & Mary. The Reason i chose this one was because of how....not so good it was. It Seemed like the whole song was the chorus and not really a song so it was very repetitive and got a little annoying. Maybe because it was not my style maybe not, i could probably take a guess that these artists were under the influence when they wrote the song. I'm not trying to be prejudice but the fact that they wrote it in the era where hippies began to grow in big numbers just leads me to that. Although i do like the guitar a lot in the song because it reminds me of how they play with the Mariachi Bands in Mexico.

The last song i choose is "I'm Henry the VIII I am" because his voice and his lyrics go very well together and makes the song so much more enjoyable. EVEN though it's almost the same thing as "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" because it repeats the same thing over again and again the ingenious of it's lyrics completely distract the listener from realizing whats going on. When you think that he says Henry the VIII, he is talking about being a king since a lot of the kings and queens during the medieval time had the same name. Really what he is talking about is that he's the 8th Henry that the girl has married.

I agree with your post about the second song, " Where Have All the Flowers Gone". But I think there is SOME meaning behind the words. As you said think about when this was written and what had just happened. I think it has a kind of anti-war theme with all the talk about husbands being soldiers and death and such.
